New Year & Old Neighbor Memories

I lived in the same house from age 2 until I got married at age 25.  I lived in an awesome neighborhood where many of our neighbors lived for a long time too.  We were a girl dominated neighborhood.  There was a family across the street that had 3 girls.  They were so fun & my New Year's eve memories involve them & their awesome New Year's eve parties.

Every New Year's eve there was a party across the street from my house.  This house had a daughter who was my age who I hung out with a lot.  They also had 2 older daughters who were sometimes my babysitters.  They also had tons of relatives.  All the makings of a great party.

The floor plan of this house was the exact same as mine.  Translation=IT WAS SMALL!  I'm guessing 1000, maybe 1100 square feet.  The living room/dining room was the biggest room in the house.  Translation=It turned into the dance floor.

I know you must be thinking, yeah but what about the furniture?  No problem!  They put the dining room chairs up against the wall & put the rest of the stuff out on the front lawn!  During the party they would leave the door open so you could hear the music when you were sitting outside.

The dancing was legendary.  Now when I was younger I didn't equate drinking with dancing.  I understand that now.  There was this one dance they did that I thought was fabulous.  It was the Cotton Eyed Joe.  If you are familiar with this song you know that there are parts where the song pauses & everyone yells out BULLSH*#!  I couldn't get over everyone yelling this out like it was just another word!  Awesome!

These great neighbors didn't disappoint & they ended the night with an incredible fireworks display.  There were so many that once it was over I couldn't even see my house because there was so much smoke!

I hope they know how much I enjoyed all the fun they provided for me.  All the great memories they provided me with.  Now they live far away in the way Northern part of our state.  I hope they are showing their new neighbors how to party!
